Chartered and European Patent Attorney
During his time at Patent Boutique Tom has gained experience of patent drafting and prosecution before the UKIPO and EPO and has assisted with and conducted large scale due diligence and freedom to operate exercises. Most of Tom’s work is contentious, he has produced written submissions for opposition and appeal proceedings at the EPO and has assisted during oral proceedings.
Tom works with a variety of clients in the pharmaceutical, chemistry, life sciences and biotechnology sectors, from sole inventors and start-ups to multinationals. He has worked on a variety of technologies, including nucleic acid sequencing, mRNA vaccines, lipid nanoparticle formulations, CRISPR genome editing, small molecule, antibody and CAR T cell therapies, home and personal care products and enzymes.
Tom joined Patent Boutique in 2020 after gaining a first class MSci degree in Natural Sciences with Professional Placement from the University of Bath. During his wide-ranging MSci Tom studied biochemistry, neuroscience, genetics, bioinformatics, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and pharmacology.
